The implementation of operational complaints management is a common requirement in sustainability standards. The external helpline approach provided by appellando complements third-party certification and is designed to create mutual synergies between the two concepts.

In this context, appellando does not compete with certification standards and schemes but aims to strengthen them by remaining independent, anonymous, confidential, transparent and trustworthy. appellando therefore aims to cooperate with as many owners of sustainability standards as possible.

Participate in the:

  • National Multi-Stakeholder Dialoge
  • Standard owner Stakeholder Committee (SC)
  • Multi-stakeholder Advisory Board (following an appointment by the responsible SC)
  • Learn from grievance case outcomes and complaints to improve your standards
  • Combine/outsource your own complaints mechanism requirements to appellando
  • Include grievance case classifications that trigger a ticket information to Certification Body and/or standard owner (make it part of the appellando protocol for companies that are certified under your standard)
  • Benefit from escalated cases by being involved in direct resolution to mitigate integrity issue
  • Offer your stakeholders more insights and risk mitigation, also via a hyperlink on your own certificate database to the appellando participation status of your certificate holders.

how can I join appellando as certification standard owner?

Contact appellando and sign the partner agreement that includes data protection provisions and the exchange of information.

Arrange for synergies with the standard and audit procedure, e.g. by harmonizing of audit criteria with the appellando rules of procedure, supporting certification bodies in identifying and validating system participants in the appellando database, assisting with investigations from time to time (via associated certification bodies as formal appellando investigator) and the monitoring of remedial actions.
